Art Tafoya, silversmith and artist, was born in 1950. At the age of 12,
he learned the basics of silversmithing from a blacksmith at a riding stable near his home. Later in 1973, he learned the art of making handmade stamps and dies from Carlos White Eagle, a former student of the legendary Navajo silversmith Fred Peshlakai. All his stamps and dies are his own creations. Art Tafoya is an exceptionally talented and capable silversmith who specializes in hand stamped old style jewelry. His original jewelry is highly sought after by collectors worldwide. ArtTafoya also is a fine Southwest artist working in
both watercolor and colored pencil. Art Tafoya was silversmith in residance at The "Turquoise Shop" at Knotts Berry Farm in California for 25 years, which is still family own and operatated! since 1980. Art Tafoya has Been in busness since 1973. And has beem making jewelry for over 40 years! Now more recently has been added to the permanent collection of the Albuquerque Museum of Art and Coulture.
